TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

D.C. United have acquired forward Jovanny Bolivar from Deportivo La Guaira on loan with a purchase option, the club announced Tuesday.

Bolivar, 19, made his professional debut at 17-years-old with Guaira and has four goals in 28 appearances across all competitions. The striker has featured with the Venezuelan youth national teams.

ā€œJovanny is a young and talented forward who we believe has the tools to succeed in MLS,ā€ GM & VP of soccer operations Dave Kasper said in a club statement. ā€œAt 19-years-old, he already has professional experience in the Venezuelan first division and has also represented the Venezuelan Youth National Team. This is a move that shows our continued commitment to bringing in young players with a high ceiling for success. We’re excited to add him to the roster ahead of the 2021 MLS season.ā€

Bolivar adds to attacking options for new head coach Hernan Losada, alongside the likes of Ola Kamara, Yordy Reyna, Erik Sorga and more. It's been a busy start to the week for United, having signed No. 4 overall SuperDraft pick forward Kimarni Smith on Monday, as well as defender Brendan Hines-Ike.
