San Diego Streaking Away from Snapdragon Stadium
Sitting atop the Western Conference through Matchday 28 is expansion side San Diego FC (49 points, 15-7-4), which holds a four-point lead over the Vancouver Whitecaps for the conference’s top spot. San Diego is tied with the Philadelphia Union and FC Cincinnati for the most wins in MLS through Matchday 28 with 15 each and sit beside Cincinnati atop the league with eight road victories this season.
With a victory at San Jose on Sunday Night Soccer (7 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / Apple TV+), San Diego would win its sixth consecutive road match, which would tie the 2005 San Jose Earthquakes (six matches from July 20 – Oct. 15) for the third-longest single-season road winning streaks in MLS history (excluding the shootout era). Only FC Cincinnati (seven matches in 2024) and CF Montréal (seven matches in 2022) have recorded longer road winning streaks in a single season in the post-shootout era.
