The Philadelphia Union have signed defender Neil Pierre to a new contract through the 2030-31 season with an option for 2031-32, the club announced Thursday.

The 19-year-old center back initially signed with Philadelphia as a homegrown player ahead of the 2025 season, before joining Danish side Lyngby Boldklub on loan for the first half of the 2026 campaign.

Since returning from loan, Pierre has become a locked-in starter with Philly. He has 4g/1a in 14 games, helping propel the Union up the Eastern Conference table during a historic unbeaten streak (12W-0L-3D) since the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Pierre recently earned his first three US men's national team caps, appearing alongside teammates Cavan Sullivan and Frankie Westfield to begin the 2030 World Cup cycle. He also placed No. 7 on MLS's annual 22 Under 22 Rankings, which recognize the league's top young players.

"Neil is one of the brightest young center backs in our league, and he has consistently made the most of the opportunities he’s earned throughout his development within our club," said Philadelphia sporting director Jon Scheer.

"His physical profile, ability to defend aggressively in 1v1 situations, and composure and confidence on the ball make him a model fit for both our game model and the demands of the modern game. He has taken significant steps forward this season, and his progression is another example of the pathway we’ve established from our academy through Union II to the first team.

"We’re excited to extend his future with the club and look forward to supporting his continued development and growth."
