Midfielder Dani Pereira joined CF Montréal on July 2, 2026, from Austin FC in exchange for $1.4 million in General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2026, $700,000 in GAM in 2027, and up to $250,000 in conditional GAM. As part of the deal, Austin FC retained a portion of Pereira’s salary for 2026 and will receive a percentage of any future transfer fee.
A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Pereira spent the first six seasons of his professional career with Austin FC. He made 148 appearances for the club, including 123 starts, logging more than 10,000 minutes, while recording four goals and 23 assists. He also scored once in five MLS Cup Playoffs appearances, played seven U.S. Open Cup matches, and registered one goal and one assist in four Leagues Cup matches.
Pereira was selected first overall by Austin FC in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft out of Virginia Tech. He became the first Virginia Tech player ever taken first overall in the MLS SuperDraft and was named the ACC Midfielder of the Year in 2020.
On the international stage, Pereira earned his first call-up to the Venezuelan national team in June 2023 and has since made 10 appearances for La Vinotinto.
